Dear Ankle,
So you started hurting today during my run. Now you are slightly swollen. Look, I am only 24. I am too young to be affected by random maladies. Running and dancing are my favorite activities, so you need to get better. By, like, tomorrow.
And I promise I will wear my flats instead of the big heels that I wore today.
Love,
Jen

I have often mentioned that I tend to be a little cheap when making purchases. Something I have learned the hard way is that sometimes cheap shoes aren't the best choice, mostly because they hurt my little tootsies! Then I end up buying another pair because the first pair has given me blisters that I could drive my car into. Another thing I have noticed is that you really need a comfy yet cute/sexy pair of black heels AND a cute/sexy pair of dark brown heels. It's really a must.
Lately I have been trying to balance out how crappy my job makes me feel by wearing something that makes me feel really cute. After trying to find a nice cheap pair of brown shoes FOREVER, I decided that I was just going to buy a pair that may cost more than $24.99.
So I bought these shoes and they are my new favorite thing. I wore them yesterday for 9 hours and they were really comfy! And I never wear heels.
The funny thing is that they are called "Lucky Day."
Some days all it takes is a cute pair of Mary Janes.

I'm always excited about acoustic releases. I generally prefer them since they strip away the flashiness and give you the raw talent of the band. Motion City Soundtrack's Acoustic EP is no different. The EP features five tracks from their 2007 album "Even If It Kills Me". For those who don't know Motion City Soundtrack is an increasingly popular indie rock/alternative rock/pop group formed in Minneapolis. The band has released three albums under Epitaph Records.
As with most acoustic releases, the songs all sound much more earnest and heartfelt. The versions of "Fell In Love Without You" and "It Had To Be You" should go down in love-song history for their incredible emotion-evoking sound. Unlike some acoustic albums, Motion City Soundtrack delivers complete studio quality throughout the entire EP. There are not only acoustic guitars, but chimes, drums, piano, bass-- the whole nine yards.
This wasn't just a sit-down in the basement; it was crafted with much precision. The vocals may not have been as smooth as in "Even If It Kills Me" but they are strong and hit all their marks (which is no small feat with all of Motion City Soundtrack's high octaves). Even if you've already purchased "Even If It Kills Me" I highly recommend you pick this EP up. The quality and effort put into the Acoustic EP is easy to recognize, and it's a whole new take on all of the songs.

I had the standard, Windows photo of Stonehenge as my wallpaper at work for well over a year. A couple of weeks ago, Smashing Magazine had an article on wallpapers, and a stack of free ones. There were so many fantastic designs, I decided that it was time to start mixing it up a bit.
For the last couple of weeks I've had the below one from this link (minus the calendar)
I've just changed my wallpaper to the following (from here)
It was close - there were 2 others that are on my shortlist for my next change:

Book #25 in 2008: In the Woods, by Tana French
I enjoyed reading this New York Times' best seller so much that I absolutely did not want it to end. Of course, when it did end, I was actually slightly disappointed (for reasons I will let you discover yourself, lest I give too much away.) An intelligent and savvy mystery with well-developed characters and an intriguing plot. (Another book w/ two woven mysteries: a past mystery directly involving the narrator - who is a murder detective - is (maybe) connected to the murder of a 12-year-girl in a Dublin suburb.)
An interesting note: The story is told in the 1st person past-tense - so the narrator actually knows the ending of the story as he's telling it - which makes for a unique perspective as the mystery unfolds.
Don't read too many reviews on this one or you'll find out more than you want to. A psychological thriller worth checking out.
Why hello there!
If you've been on Twitter the last few weeks you'll have noticed about 1,000 "COME VISIT WE'RE STREAMING LIVE! LIVE I TELL YOU!!!" tweets from various people.
At first I was annoyed. WHY would I want to see you live? I barely know you! This is all moving too fast! Next thing you know you'll be wanting to leave a freakin' toothbrush over here and have your own drawer!
But now I totally get it. It's freakin' fun. I'll be trying to do one every night, so, come by and visit! I'll be posting on BitchBuzz's Twitter whenever we'll be going live on Qik.
This morning I saw a sparrow chase after a moth.
And then I saw it eat a moth.
I know I shouldn't root for the moth because this is all natural and these are all natural things that are happening, but I always root for the prey. I mean, all they're doing is minding their own business---and then all of a sudden they're getting fucked with.
And eaten.
Ben J. and I watched "Demons" and "Demons 2" this past week.
They're gross/gory (awesome) Italian zombie movies that I hadn't seen since I was 8 or so.
Well, damn, I thought I had some clips of it to show you, but I don't seem to have any favorited.
So, instead you can watch this video of a testicular examination:
I'm not entirely sure why I can tolerate/accept gore in older horror movies, but I have no tolerance for it in newer movies (e.g. "Saw" and "Hostel"). I was talking to Ben about it last night, and I came to a conclusion... But I forget what it was.
Oh, wait, I found some stuff for the "Demons" movies:
Boss.
In other news,
I'm no longer having back pains.
Not sure what I'm doing differently, but I can finally tie my shoes and such without feeling like I'm going to die.
Maybe it was my body telling me that I'd been 23 years old for too long.
It wanted me to be 24.
