Turns out that doing aquarobics with "gators" (the funny green ankle floaties) on is much harder than doing a class wearing a floatation belt. But at least I know that I did some actual exercise. I suspect the classes won't make too much difference to my legs overall, because it is mostly toning stuff, and there is too much *ahem* padding on my legs to see the muscles that lie deep underneath, but I'm sure that on balance it is good for me.
During lunchtime I'm going to skip down to the sports shop and purchase some goggles, a pool buoy and maybe some flippers for lap swimming. Tonight I'm just going to do what I did last time - 20 laps, alternating 3 laps breastroke and 1 lap overarm - but then I think I might start branching out. Doing laps after work appears to me because it is only 30 mins (God I'm lazy) but also because it is stinking hot in G-town this week, and getting into the pool is so refreshing. Will definitely need the goggles though - last time my eyes were so chloriney after getting out of the pool that I almost had an accident driving home!
I'm a bit obsessed with the shape and colo(u)r blog at the moment because a lot of the art on there makes me feel gleeful. For example, how cool is this dude? I like most of the art that Florentijn Hofman produces, which are documented on his website but my favourites have to be the washed up pianos and the giant duck. While the project involving the nuclear power station is not as whimsical or joyful, there is something very beautiful about taking an object with industrial, and I would suggest scary, connotations, and turning it into part of a theme park.
